SHEEPDOG TRIALS IN BRITAIN & IRELAND:
THE 1983 INTERNATIONAL SHEEP DOG TRIALS AT ABERYSTWYTH, WALES
Aberystwyth is on the west coast of Wales. The trial grounds faced onto the ocean, and
on Saturday night there was a terrific storm with high winds that collapsed the portable
bleachers and almost cancelled the Sunday finals. Fortunately, there was enough of a protest
that the committee decided to continue with the trial. The winner of International that year
was Tot Longton, Quernmore, with his black and white, 9 year old female Jess (ISDS 88627) and
you can see him accepting his award at the bottom of the page.
